Updraft is a single-player puzzle game. It has no accounts, no sign-in, no leaderboard server and no backend of ours of any kind. Everything the game remembers about you is stored on your own device.
This document describes what the app actually does, written against the source code rather than from a template. Where it says “we”, that means the developer of Updraft.
None. We operate no servers and receive nothing from the app.
Updraft saves your progress locally using the operating system’s own key/value
store (Android SharedPreferences, via Unity PlayerPrefs). That data never
leaves your device unless you deliberately share it (see section 3). It is:
| What | Stored as |
|---|---|
| Your three best scores | updraft.score.0/1/2, updraft.combo.* |
| Profile level and XP | updraft.xp, updraft.runs |
| Chosen colour palette and trail | updraft.skin.palette, updraft.skin.trail |
| Daily challenge record and streak | updraft.daily.* |
| Today’s goals and their progress | updraft.missions.* |
| Achievements earned | updraft.ach.* |
| Lifetime stats (rows cleared, biggest clear, biggest combo) | updraft.stat.* |
| Difficulty-matching history (rows and shots of recent runs) | updraft.skill.* |
| An interrupted run, so it survives the app being closed | updraft.run |
| Your settings: sound, music, vibration, high contrast, language | updraft.muted, updraft.music.muted, updraft.haptics, updraft.colorblind, updraft.lang |
| Whether you have finished the tutorial | updraft.tutorial.done |
None of this identifies you. There is no name, no email address, no phone number, no contacts access, no camera access, no microphone access and no location permission in the app.
To delete all of it: uninstall Updraft, or go to Android Settings → Apps → Updraft → Storage → Clear data. There is nothing held anywhere else to delete.
Updraft shows full-screen ads: one optional ad you can choose to watch to continue a run, and an occasional ad between runs. Ads are served by Google AdMob through the Google Mobile Ads SDK.
We do not receive any of this data. It goes to Google. Per Google’s own disclosure for the Google Mobile Ads SDK, the SDK automatically collects:
All of it is encrypted in transit using TLS. Google’s own privacy policy governs what it does with that data: https://policies.google.com/privacy. You can review the partners Google works with at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
The app declares the com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID permission, which
is what allows the advertising ID to be read.
Sharing is always something you start, never automatic.
Nothing is sent anywhere if you do not tap those buttons.
There are none. Unity Analytics, Unity Cloud Diagnostics, crash reporting and performance reporting are all switched off in the project, and no third-party analytics or attribution SDK is present in the app.
The only network traffic Updraft generates is the ad requests described in section 2 and the share actions you start yourself in section 3.
Updraft is not directed to children. It is intended for a general audience aged 13 and over and is not enrolled in Google Play’s Designed for Families programme. We do not knowingly collect any data from children, and — as section 1 says — we do not collect any data from anyone.
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes will be noted in the app’s release notes on Google Play.
